GUIDE PRICE: Kitchen £30k+

A previous extension on the back of the house had left the new owners with a large, ugly supporting pier right in the middle of the kitchen which really impacted on the layout options. Replacing the steels meant the pier size could be drastically reduced, opening up the space and allowing for a lovely, large island. Using the existing chimney breast, but deepening the opening, allowed for the range cooker to be recessed into a feature tiled alcove with double breakfront larders to one side and a reeded glass wall unit the other. There was also room for a shallow full height larder on the opposite wall giving extra food storage. A double Belfast sink was set into the island, which was painted in contrasting deep grey Downpipe from F&B. On the back of the island facing the dining table is a wine cooler and open bookshelf with a small seating area set near the patio doors into the garden. The owners existing American fridge freezer was set into a recess in the kitchen, framed with architrave in the same F&B Purbeck stone colour as the rest of the kitchen.
